A three day folk and tribal festival is organized to commemorate the legend’s 77th birthday at Ravindra Bharati Auditorium between the 21st and 23rd of July 2009.

Promoting and preserving the Indian tribal and Folk Art culture and tradition, the BFA, headed by the illustrious late Janapada Kalabrahma Dr. Gopal Raj Bhatt, is the premier institution, the only one of its kind, aspiring to reach out to the general public by creating a marked awareness of the rich and varied tribal and folk art of India.

The Bharat Folk Arts Academy has surged ahead to innovate and invigorate the present generation under none other than the son of the great artist, an icon in himself, Shri. Raghav Raj Bhatt with the support of his dancer wife , Smt. Mangala Bhatt, folk expert and sister Sandhya Bhatt with the advise and blessings of Janapith Awardee Dr.C.Narayana Reddy, a good childhood friend of Dr. Gopal Raj Bhatt, Padmasree Awardee Dr.Nerella Venumadhav, Acharya Dr. B. Ramaraju Sr. K.V.Ramana Chary, I.A.S, Mr. Kishan Rao. G., I.A.S and Dr. Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad . 

Bharat Folk Arts Academy is the only institution that being run as an academy of Indian performing arts and a training centre for folk, tribal arts, costume designing , make-up, stage craft and visual arts.
